<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems wherein a change in a vehicle state not related to the on/off of a switch cannot be detected, and a microcomputer is disabled during the off period of the switch and is not capable of communication output if the microcomputer is stopped when the off state of the switch continues for a long period for reducing power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle control unit comprises a sub ECU 10 in which a signal related to a vehicle state detected by a sensor 11, or the like is inputted; a clock oscillator 25 for generating a clock at a prescribed frequency; a main ECU 15 including a microcomputer 16 that is controlled by the clock and communicates with the sub ECU; a determination section 17 for comparing the signal with a reference value that is stored in advance for determining whether a clock frequency needs to be changed or not; and a frequency changing section 20 for changing the clock frequency according to a command from the determination section for outputting it to the microcomputer of the main ECU. When the determination section determines that the signal is smaller than the reference value, the frequency changing section decreases the clock frequency, reduces the processing speed of the main ECU, and reduces power consumption. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
