PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus in which the number of parts is decreased and structure is improved simply and its driving method. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus comprises a rotation lever supporting a pinch roller guiding so as to bring a tape into contact with a capstan shaft and installed rotatably on the deck, a review arm connected to the rotation lever by an elastic member and installed rotatably on the deck, and a compressing lever of which the one side is connected to the review arm and the other side is connected to a main sliding member. The compressing lever is driven by a driving force from the sliding member and compresses the review arm in a direction such that the elastic member is stretched, the rotation lever is rotated by the stretched elastic member and brings the pinch roller into close contact with the capstan shaft.
