PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To not only improve a safety against a slope failure but also reduce a cost in the short term of works when a slope is cut in the case of the construction of a protecting retaining wall. SOLUTION: Triangular ditches 11 are excavated in the cross direction to the slope 10, and soldier beams 1 are driven to the triangular ditches 11. The upper-end section sides are cut in the slope 10, and horizontal sheathings 5A are interposed among each soldier beam 1. The lower sections of the horizontal sheathings 5A are cut in the slope 10, and the sheathings 5A are dropped to cut faces along each soldier beam 1. New horizontal sheathings 5 are interposed among the upper end sections of each soldier beam 1, and the horizontal sheathings 5 are abutted against the horizontal sheathings 5A at one stage. The protecting retaining wall for the slope is constructed by repeating the cut of the lower sections of the horizontal sheathings 5A at one stage and the droppings of the horizontal sheathings 5A and interpositions among the upper end sections of the soldier beams 1 of the new horizontal sheathings 5.
