ELECTROABSORPTION-MODULATED FABRY-PEROT LASER AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

Electroabsorption-modulated Fabry-Perot lasers and methods of making the same are described. In one aspect, a light source (1) includes a Fabry-Perot (FP) laser (14) that is operable to generate multimode laser light, an electroabsorption modulator (EAM) (18) that is configured to selectively absorb and transmit laser light traveling therethrough, and an optical isolator (16). The optical isolator (16) is on an optical path between the FP laser (14) and the EAM (18). The optical isolator (16) is configured to transmit laser light traveling along the optical path from the FP laser (14) to the EAM (18).
