A moving image processing device generates a representative still image from moving image data recorded in a recording medium. The moving image processing device acquires image acquisition position information specifying an image acquisition position in the moving image data, acquires a reproduction image at the image acquisition position specified by the image acquisition position information acquired from the moving image data as a representative still image, and records the acquired image acquisition position information in the recording medium by relating it to information specifying the moving image data.
