PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing silyl ether, alcohol or amine at room temperature by reductive reaction using silane. SOLUTION: The method for producing an amine represented by formula (VI) from an amide represented by general formula (V) by using a silane having at least one H and represented by general formula (I) in the presence of a catalyst is provided, wherein a polynuclear ruthenium carbonyl complex coordinated with carbonyls on 2-4 Ru atoms is used as the catalyst and the catalyst is previously activated by a silane to make an activated catalyst species.
