The assembly to extract tobacco (15) from an intermediate store (10) has rake wheels (18) to remove a tobacco portion (25) for transfer to a funnel (28) as a tobacco flow. A sensor (26) monitors the extracted tobacco portion to give a dosed transfer into the tobacco flow using a belt weighing scale. A sensor (16) monitors the movement of tobacco in the store towards the rake wheels.
