The reservoir has an inner wall (32) defining a cylindrical inner space (34) closed by a removable stopper (38) placed in an upper part of the reservoir. Coolant inlet and outlet orifices (46, 48) open transversely in the space. The space has a filter (50) traversed by a circulating coolant and having a filtering part (52) with an annular contact lip (58) in a selected position, where the lip is independent from the stopper. An independent claim is also included for a heat exchanger having a reservoir.
