A buffer management table is provided for indicating which buffer area corresponds to a sector. By using this table, a shared buffer area shared by a plurality of sectors and separate buffer areas for the respective sectors are set in the buffer means (RAM). A flag indicating the data processing state is provided in each sector. This enables high-speed execution of the USB -FDD read/write in accordance with the use state and reduces the RAM buffer capacity. Moreover, it is possible to adjust the RAM buffer area used for data read/write according to the use condition and the necessity degree of the other use.
