The invention concerns on the one hand a temperature sensitive adhesive tape for the forming of a hem of a panties from an elastic textile material and, on the other hand, a method of applying an elastic hem in an article of clothing made from elastic textile material. The tape can be processed under tension so that the hem with fringe can be finished, a good recovery achieved and the finished dimensions can be controlled. <IMAGE>
