An air purifying and conditioning device comprises a housing 1, 4 containing at least one fan 19 extracting air over at least one activated carbon filter 7 to filter impurities, germs and bacteria in the air, passing the air over at least one ultra violet light tube 20 to further remove airborne bacteria, germs and mould, cooling the air by passing it over an air conditioning refrigerator 32 and finally passing the air through at least one ionisation device 10 before being discharged through an outlet 2 as clean, chilled fresh air. Light shields 27 are provided to prevent ultra violet light escaping the housing 1, 4. The ultra violet tube(s) 20 emit light at a wavelength of 253.7 nanometres and may be removable. The ionisation device 10 is a negative ion generator comprising cathodic high voltage carbonised fibres to increase the level of anions. The outlet 2 may oscillate so that its angle may be varied. The device may possess an electrical circuit for two alternating cycle modes. A first mode may comprise an ionisation mode and the second mode may be an ultra violet mode and the circuit may be operated in either mode, a continuous simultaneous mode or the two modes in an alternating cycle. |
