A broadcast receiving system is disclosed which is capable of reducing an operational burden on a user by detecting a miss of program and an omission of recording thereof. The broadcast receiving system comprises a detection unit (31) for detecting a predetermined state with respect to a program that is to be broadcast, a storage unit (35) for storing a location of program information containing a broadcast schedule of the program to be broadcast, a broadcast schedule searching unit (33) for searching for a next broadcast schedule of the program from the program information in accordance with the detection of the predetermined state, and a reservation unit (38) for executing at least one of notifying of a result of the search and a reserving operation for the program.
