<p>A laser source (1) produces femtosecond seed pulses; a recoverable amplifier (2) produces picosecond pump pulses and an opto-parametric amplifier (8) produces an auxiliary beam (HS) and a signal beam (SS). In this arrangement the opto-parametric amplifier is pumped by the recoverable amplifier. In novel operation: the seed pulse is coupled into the recoverable amplifier and the opto-parametric amplifier, via a pulse stretcher (10).</p> |
