PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material information detector for efficiently detecting information on a sheet material while having satisfactory information detection accuracy. SOLUTION: This detector is structured so that a signal owing to external force impressed on the sheet material P by an external force impression means 2 is detected by a signal detection means 3 while frequency components within a specific domain included in an output signal input from the detection means 3 are removed or extracted by a filter 101, and that a sheet material information detection means 102 detects information on the sheet material P on the basis of an output signal from the filter 101.
