PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a hand feeling and texture by smoothing a skin abutment face side of a surface sheet. SOLUTION: This absorbent article 1 is provided with the liquid-permeable surface sheet 3, a rear sheet 2, an absorbent body 4 interposed between the both sheets, and a hydrophilic second sheet 6 between the surface sheet 3 and the absorbent body 4. This absorbent article has such a structure that the skin abutment face side of the surface sheet 3 is formed of a nonwoven fabric, a plastic film layer is superposed on the rear side of the nonwoven fabric, a plurality of projections and recesses are formed on the skin abutment face side by embosses 7, 7, etc., provided by a zig-zag arrangement pattern, and a plurality of openings 8 and 8 are formed.
