<p>An apparatus and method for operating a smoke generator pod (198) is disclosed. The apparatus includes a smoke generator pod (198) associated with a combat platform (130, 146, 158). The method provides for manual or automatic controls for the time-sensitive activation of the smoke generator as a result of local or remote events occurring on local or remote combat platforms where the events are optionally communicated between the platforms (130, 146, 158) via a data link channel (172, 174, 176, 178, 180, 182). The apparatus and method provide visually enhanced inter-vehicular situational awareness to the operating crew of the combat platforms participating in combat training exercises or in real combat.</p> |
