PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for adhesive which is suitable for joining a single crystal as a heat sink to laser glass, particularly a material for adhesive which is suitable for joining sapphire to the laser glass. SOLUTION: The glass composition contains SiO<SB>2</SB>, B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, ZnO and La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and has a refractive index (nd) of >1.70-1.82, 50-80×10<SP>-7</SP>/°C average linear expansion coefficient (α) at 100-300°C, and≤600°C glass transition point (Tg).
