PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grow preferentially a substrate layer provided under a magnetic layer along the track direction about a magnetic recording medium, a magnetic storage apparatus, and a manufacturing method of the magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: This medium is provided with a Cr group substrate layer in which distanceλbetween texture lines arranged in the prescribed direction and being adjacent each other is 5<λ30nm, an angleψformed by a texture plane and an oblique texture plane is 0.5<ψ<7 degree, which is provided on the texture plane by sputtering, in which film thickness is approximately 1nm or more a nd approximately 40nm or less, Cr<110> is grown preferentially along the prescribed direction so that the number of particles having Cr<110> in the vicinity at which an angle for the prescribed direction is 0 degree or 90 degree is made twice or more of the number of particles having Cr<110> in the vicinity at which an angle for the prescribed direction is 45 degree, and a Co group magnetic layer which is provided on the substrate layer by sputtering, in which Co(1120) plane is grown preferentially along the prescribed direction and an orientation ratio is two or more.
