PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver of a CATV capable of receiving signals of both transport stream forms of the re-transmission signal of a BS digital broadcast with multiple TSs (Transport Streams) and the re-transmission signal of a CS digital broadcast with a single TS in the digital broadcasting service of a CATV.

SOLUTION: A multiple-TSs/single-TS discrimination means is provided in a TS separation unit of the receiver for detecting whether frame headers contained in the transport streams of multiple TSs exist or not.
