PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a product easy to mount to a mounting flange and difficult to detach from the mounting flange in a small thermoplastic elastomer weather strip smaller than a normal weather strip such as a sensor weather strip, and provided with lips projected from an inner wall of a forked grip. SOLUTION: In this weather strip for an automobile, a lip 13 with a thick part 14 at a tip end is projected from an inner wall of a U-sectioned forked grip 11 to be mounted to a mounting flange 1. A recess 15 with a size large enough to receive at least one part of the thick part 14 of the elastically deformed lip 13 when mounting to the mounting flange 1 is formed on the inner wall of the forked grip 11.
