<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound signal encoding device and a sound signal decoding device that performs encoding and decoding for an encoded signal such that space information of original multiple channels can be reproduced only by reproducing a down-mix signal. <P>SOLUTION: Provided are a coefficient table 17 through which coefficients of two channels simulate head transfer characteristics in multichannel reproduction, a 1st signal output section 12 which mixes frequency range signals of N channels down into signals of two channels according to the coefficient table 17, and a 2nd signal output section 14 which generates auxiliary information for putting the down-mix signals back into the multi-channel signals. Then the down-mix signal becomes a signal after filter processing based upon a desired transfer function, space information of the multichannel signals is reflected only with a 1st encoded signal, and the original multichannel signals can be reproduced by using a 2nd encoded signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
