PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the trouble that is caused when a document is optically read and stored in a manner that facilitates its use afterwards. SOLUTION: The system comprises: a scanner 13; a table T1 that shows a selection history of a plurality of character strings; an operation part 11; and a frame memory M that stores only a single image, and has a display part 12 that displays an image stored in the frame memory M, and a CPU 17. Using the table T1, the CPU 17 first captures an image screen from the first of the images in which the plurality of character strings are arranged in order by greatness of possibility of being selected, and writes it to the frame memory M. The CPU 17 captures an image screen specified with the use of the operation part 11, from the image, and writes it to the frame memory M while the CPU 17 selects the character string specified with the use of the operation part 11 from an image plane being displayed, and, using this character string, stores an electronic document from the scanner 13.
