PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection apparatus in which an operating mode or method of an image pickup device can be changed in accordance with a destination to connect the image pickup device thereto. SOLUTION: In a cradle 2 which includes a housing part 10 to mount a digital camera 1 thereon and communicably connects an image pickup device and a plurality of external devices 3, 4, 5, there are provided a selection means 12 for selecting an external device to communicate with the image pickup device from the plurality of external devices, and a setting means 120 for setting an operating mode of the image pickup device to a mode for communicating with the selected external device.
