PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling carriage assembly, in which the fluctuation of a floating characteristic of a magnetic head is suppressed by joining a suspension to a carriage arm with accuracy higher than the conventional one without the deformation of the suspension and which can assemble carriage assembly provided with excellent information reading and writing characteristics. SOLUTION: A fitting hole 10a provided at the carriage arm 10 and a spacer hole 12b provided at a spacer part 12a of the suspension 12 are aligned, and the diameter of the maximum outer diameter size is expanded so as to be larger than an inner diameter side of the spacer hole 12b after an operation member 20, the maximum outer diameter size of which is not larger than the inner diameter size of the spacer hole 12b is inserted into the spacer hole 12b to thereby caulk the circumferential edge part of the spacer hole 12b of the spacer part 12a, fixing the suspension 12 to the carriage arm 10.
