PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling electronic article surveillance (EAS) transmission, and to provide an EAS system. SOLUTION: In the method, at least one related system parameter is calculated from the desired frequency, duty cycle, and desired phase difference among the antennas of transmitters, a counter is initialized by a value based on the system parameters, a count from the counter is compared with the system parameters, and an EAS transmission signal is modulated based on the comparison. The EAS system comprises at least one EAS tag 30; a plurality of antennas 12, 14; at least one receiver 20 for using the antenna for receiving radiation from the tag; and at least one transmitter 18, in which a signal is transmitted from the antenna so that the tag is made to resonate when the tag is around the transmitter, each transmitter has a plurality of amplifiers, each antenna receives output from one corresponding amplifier, and the transmitter adjusts the phase-shift between the outputs of the amplifiers.
