IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which occurrence of abnormal sound due to vibration of a recording-material-pressing member can be restrained while the recording-material-pressing member is used. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier that is rotated; a toner image forming means for forming toner images on the image carrier; a transfer means having a discharge mechanism for transferring the toner images on the image carrier to a recording material in a transfer area; and the flexible, plate-like recording-material-pressing means extending in the axial direction of the image carrier and used for pressing the recording material against the peripheral face of the image carrier with its leading edge in the transfer area such that the entire face of the leading edge is elastically restrained opposite to and in contact with the peripheral face of the image carrier. The recording-material-pressing means is provided with cuts made in its leading edge so as to divide the leading edge into a plurality of parts in the direction of its length.
