Seat belt buckle arrangement for a vehicle seat

The buckle 9 is rotatably mounted to a pivot point 7 via mounting bracket 8. A resilient element in the form of a coil spring 10 is located at the pivot point to enable the buckle and bracket to be resiliently biased in a clockwise pivotal motion. The buckle may alternatively be slidably mounted with a coil spring to bias the buckle in a longitudinal direction relative to the mounting. An element 11 may be attached to the lower end of a seat back 5 to engage and retain the buckle in an operative position against the spring bias. The seat back 5 of the rear seat 1 may pivot at 6 to overlie a squab 4. This enables the buckle to separate from the element 11 and rotate to a storage position behind the squab and beneath the seat back.
