SEMICONDUCTOR LIGHT EMITTING ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform an improvement in the light retrieving efficiency of a semiconductor light emitting element and a reduction in a cost.

SOLUTION: A projection (8) and a recess (7) are provided on the bottom of a semiconductor substrate (1) having conductivity for supporting a main semiconductor region (2) which has a light emitting function. A first electrode (3) is arranged at the central part of the main surface of the main semiconductor region (2). A second electrode (4) is arranged on the lower surface of the semiconductor substrate (1). The projection (8) of the semiconductor substrate (1) is decided to surround the first electrode (3) as seen in a planar manner. The thickness of the outer peripheral side of the semiconductor substrate (1) is made thinner than the central part having the projection (8).
