PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head device for linear tape which realizes a high-speed drive of an actuator for fine movement adjustment of the magnetic head for the linear tape and enhancement in step response performance in driving a magnetic head block. SOLUTION: The device has a support 14 integrated with a magnetic head block 12 having both a recording element and a reproducing element, flexible wiring board 13 [13A, 13B] electrically connected to each of the both sides of the magnetic head block 12, a first support member 26 of the magnetic head block, second support members 27 [27A, 27B] for the flexible wiring board arranged to both sides of the magnetic head block while having space in-between, and an electromagnetic actuator for coarsely moving whole of the support 14; an piezoelectric element actuator 14 [14A, 14B] for finely moving the magnetic head block 12. A part of the flexible wiring board 13 [13A, 13B] is firmly fixed on the mutually facing surfaces of the magnetic head block 12 and the second support members 27 [27A, 27B], and a coarse movement absorbing part 28 and a fine movement absorbing part 29 are independently arranged on the flexible wiring board 13.
