PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main motor for a rolling stock, having significantly improved lubricating performance. SOLUTION: The main motor 10 for the rolling stock comprises a motor shaft 11, a rotor 12 fixed to the motor shaft 11, a stator 13 fixed to the inner periphery of a housing 14 in no contact with the outer periphery of the rotor 12, bearings 15, 16 whose inner rings 19, 23 are externally fitted to the motor shaft 11, brackets 28, 27 having grease pockets 31, 35 in the sides of the bearings 15, 16, to which outer rings 32, 37 of the bearings 15, 16 are internally fitted, and end covers 29, 34 assembled on the brackets 28, 27 and having grease pockets 30, 36 formed in the other sides of the bearings 15, 16. In the grease pockets 30, 31, 35, 36, solid oils 45 are stored with interferences, which are formed corresponding to the shapes of their inner wall faces. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
