PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate for horizontally operating sliding doors or the like, which prevents entrance of pebbles, sand, dust, etc. into its guide groove recessed in a floor surface, the guide groove being formed such that a downward-facing overturning preventing fitting set at a roller position of the gate for the steel sliding doors is hooked on and engaged with a lower surface of a guide rail. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the gate, the guide groove 3 is formed in the floor surface so as to open upward, and has a bent cross section that reaches a gap below an outward-facing engaging surface 21 of the guide rail 2, and an elastic long groove blocking member 4 formed of a synthetic rubber such as an EPDM is tightly fitted into the guide groove 3 so as to extend over the entire length of the same. The downward-facing overturning preventing fitting 18 can advance in the guide rail in a manner pushing away the elastic long groove blocking material 4 while the remaining space in the guide groove 3 is elastically blocked with the elastic long groove blocking member 4, and therefore entrance of pebbles etc. can be prevented. Further, by squeezing an anchor 33 of the elastic long blocking member 4 into an anchor groove 33 formed in the guide groove 3, an anchoring effect is exerted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
