An electrical detonator comprises a resistor in which the electrical energy is converted into thermal energy and pressure in order to ignite an explosive. The resistor (7) is a layer element, and the layer (10) that forms the resistor is applied to one side of a substrate. The initialising charge consists of a second explosive which is covered with a layer element.
