PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning a porous plug, by which the cleaning of the porous plug after charging can be performed while minimizing the damage to the porous plug. SOLUTION: In the cleaning method for porous plug, cleaning the stuck material, such as metal, infiltrated in pores of the porous plug by blowing inert gas from piping connected to the porous plug at the outer side of a molten steel vessel and by blowing oxygen gas from the inner side of the molten steel vessel, the cleaning is performed while measuring the flow-rate of the inert gas and also, controlling the blowing pressure of the oxygen gas based on the variation of the flow rate of this inert gas.
