Invention relates to the field of ship-repair, in particular to docking the ships, length of which exceeds the length of the pontoon deck of the floating dock. The method of docking the ships consists of the following. The common center of the weight of ship and floating dock is determined. Then the maximum permissible span of prow and stern of the ship beyond the boundaries of the pontoon deck of the floating dock is determined. The dock supports are mounted on the pontoon deck and on the front edges of the pontoon of the floating dock. Then floating dock is immersed and the ship is mounted on the pontoon deck taking into account the maximum permissible span of prow and stern of the ship beyond its boundaries. The floating dock with the ship is lifted by pumping the water from the dock chambers. In the second version of the method the ship is additionally ballasted afloat prior to its setting on the pontoon deck of the floating dock. Invention promotes the docking the ships, length of which exceeds the length of the pontoon deck of the floating dock, and allows to avoid additional costs for increase of the dimensions of the dock.
