<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium which can be manufactured without using a vacuum process which uses a sputtering device or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium is provided with a support substrate 11 and a light transmission layer 12 prepared in contact with the support substrate 11, and at least either of a refractive index of the support substrate 11 and a refractive index of the light transmission layer 12, and an extinction coefficient of the support substrate 11 and an extinction coefficient of the light transmission layer 12 differ. Thus the support substrate 11 and the light transmission layer 12 contact directly and no reflective layer is prepared between them, however, reflection arises in these interfaces, since at least either of a refractive index or an extinction coefficient differ mutually.
