PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reference position setting method of a servo motor drive system in an electric wire processing device in which a sensor for reference position setting is not required and the accuracy of action in the processing of the electric wires can be improved. SOLUTION: The electric wire guide mechanism 55 is provided with a pair of electric wire guides 56 which are mutually contacted and separated by the drive of a servo motor 59, and inserts and guides the electric wire to a water-proof seal held in a prescribed posture through the pair of the electric wire guides operated so as to come close to each other. The servo motor 56 is driven at low speed and with low torque in such a direction that the pair of electric wire guides 56 come close to each other, and the rotation of the servo motor 59 is restrained by the contact and separation free contact of the both electric wire guides 56, and when the stop of rotation is detected, an encoder value of the stopping position is obtained, and thereby, the pair of electric wire guides 56 are drive-controlled making the encoder value as a reference position.
