PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce crosstalks caused by reflection of transmitted light beams mixed into a receiving path. SOLUTION: An optical branching element is provided with an opening surface 11a which is made to face an optical fiber end face, a light-emitting element opposing surface 11b, a light-receiving element opposing surface 11c, a transmitter side reflecting surface 11d-2 which reflects transmitted light beams made incident from the light-emitting element opposing surface 11b to the opening surface 11a and a receiver side reflecting surface 11e-2 which reflects receiving light beams made incident from the opening surface 11a, to the receiving element facing the surface 11c. When a Z-axis is set to an optical fiber optical axis direction, an X-axis is set to the opposing direction, with respect to the surfaces 11b and 11c, and a Y-axis is defined as the direction orthogonal to the X-axis and the Y-axis, the transmitter side reflecting surface 11d-2 is set as a surface which is formed by rotating a plane parallel to the opening surface 11a about the Y-axis and by tilting around the X-axis. The receiver side reflecting surface 11e-2 is set as a surface which is formed by rotating a plane parallel to the opening surface 11a about the Y-axis along the opposite direction, with respect to the transmitter side reflecting surface 11d-2 and tilted. Thus, the main directions of the transmitting light beam reflection path and the receiving path in the vicinity of the opening surface 11a are separated by a large amount.
