PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery and its manufacturing method capable of restraining the swelling of a battery in a high-temperature environment or at initial charging, and the degradation of charging and discharging characteristics caused by the depletion of an electrolyte solution in the case of repeated charging and discharging. SOLUTION: For the battery housing a power generating element having a cathode and an anode in a case 14 with a bottom and side walls, a concave part 16 having a convex part 18 at the bottom is formed at the outside face of the side wall of the case 14. The concave part 16 is formed by a pressing process on the outside face of the side wall and the convex part 18 is formed by a pressing process on the bottom of the formed concave part 16.
