ANGULAR VELOCITY SENSOR, AND ANGULAR VELOCITY MEASURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an angular velocity sensor capable of improving reliability of output by a simple composition. SOLUTION: In place of a conventional angular velocity sensor, a first angular velocity detecting element is provided for outputting a first output value corresponding to an angular velocity around a first detection axis, and a second angular velocity detecting element is provided for outputting a second output value corresponding to an angular velocity around a second detection axis. The first angular velocity detecting element and the second angular velocity detecting element are arranged such that the first detection axis and the second detection axis are in parallel with each other and facing opposite directions. When a sum of the first output value and the second output value changes, it is determined which has failed by conducting a first failure test of confirming existence/nonexistence of malfunction of the first angular velocity detecting element, and a second failure test of confirming existence/nonexistence of malfunction of the second angular velocity detecting element.
