PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly distinguish a non-use condition of a camera by a simple composition without using a special sensor, etc., and to effectively reduce power consumption of the camera. SOLUTION: The camera is composed by comprising: a signal processing part 6 which obtains a video image signal from an imaging signal; a timing part 11 which counts a predetermined time, an operation part 12 which changes imaging operation and an imaging condition of the camera; an operation detection part 13 which detects operation performed for the operation part 12; a video image signal detection part 9 which detects a variation quantity of the video image signal, and a condition distinction part 14 which distinguishes whether the camera is in an imaging condition or the non-imaging condition according to the detection result of the operation detection part 13 in the predetermined time and the variation quantity of the detected video image signal by the video image signal detection part 9.
