The lifting conveyor for bars has a lifting traverse (5) with grippers (7). This has an interface (37) with the vacuum lines (9) of a vacuum traverse (13) fitted with suction cups (11). The interface has a mechanical centering system which fixes the lifting traverse in position when the grippers hold the vacuum traverse, so that the vacuum lines are shut off.
