The ship may have a vertical transom stern (1). A thick metal plate (4) is bent into a semicircle. Its top edge (5) is welded to the vertical transom, forming a semicircular space. There is a slit (6) between the bottom edge and the transom. Water is pumped into a circular-section pipe (2) situated on the midline of the semicircular plate and welded to the transom. Water escapes from the pipe through a slit (3) at the top, and flows out of the semicircular space through the slit at the bottom.
