<p>An elevator controller comprising a section for monitoring the traveling speed of a cage. The speed monitoring section generates an abnormality detection signal when the ascending speed of the cage reaches a preset over speed. The cage has an upward direction emergency stop device for stopping elevation of the cage upon generation of the abnormality detection signal. The upward direction emergency stop device comprises an actuator driven in response to generation of an abnormality detection signal, and a brake member operated by the actuator.</p> |
