PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy demands for a higher yield of plastic lens production and for provision of a high-quality material in the field of optical materials of a spectacle lens, etc., having a high refractive index and a high Abbe's number. SOLUTION: An optical material is provided which comprises a sulfur-atom-containing resin whose moisture absorption at a temperature of 60°C and a humidity of 90% in one day is≤1.0×10<SP>-3</SP>%. The optical material has a high refractive index and a high Abbe's number and contributes to a higher yield of plastic lens production and to provision of a high-quality material.
