PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pump device having a static pressure bearing and an axial thrust balancing device, which can suppress the occurrence of cavitation in a suction part without upsizing. SOLUTION: A pump device is equipped with a rotary shaft 22 connected to a motor, an impeller wheel 23 mounted in the rotary shaft, a bearing for supporting the rotary shaft, and an axial thrust balancing device for reducing a thrust load onto the bearing. Leaked liquid from the axial thrust balancing device is led by a return pipe 50 as return liquid, which is released to the vicinity of a step-up element (an inducer 24) mounted on the uppermost stream side in a flow of liquid sucked in the impeller wheel.
