Described is a base for a trolley for storing and transporting merchandise, the trolley being substantially constituted by a hollow body (11) in plastic material obtained by means of an extrusion and blowing process. The resulting base has a structure that is both light and rigid and does not call for particular surface treatments. Also described is a trolley that utilizes this base.
