<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulative magnetic one component toner capable of forming satisfactory images free of various image defects by forming a neat thin layer free of defects etc., having a uniform thickness on the surface of a developer carrier stably for a long period of time from right after turning on a power source and an image forming method by a magnetic one component jumping development method using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic one component toner is prepared by compounding a first magnetic powder having a volume resistivity of 1×10<SP>2</SP>to 1×10<SP>4</SP>Ωcm and a second magnetic powder having a volume resistivity of 1×10<SP>6</SP>to 1×10<SP>7</SP>Ωcm into toner particles in such a manner the volume resistivity attains 1×10<SP>3</SP>to 1×10<SP>7</SP>Ωcm.
