PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system which is capable of reducing a negative effect caused by a lack of an oxidant gas which may occur at an oxygen electrode under a low-load or a nonload state, such as a lack of oxygen caused by a cross leak of hydrogen happening during intermittent driving, in a vehicle equipped with the fuel cell system, and improving a transient response performance of the vehicle.
SOLUTION: The fuel cell system comprises a fuel cell which generates power by an electrochemical reaction between a fuel gas supplied to a fuel electrode (anode) and the oxidant gas supplied to the oxygen electrode (cathode); a pressure adjusting means which is disposed on the discharge side of the fuel cell, from which a residual gas on the oxygen electrode is discharged, and adjusts the back pressure of the residual gas; and a control means which controls the pressure adjusting means so as to facilitate the discharge of the residual gas upon carrying out high-load changeover, at which the state of the fuel cell is changed from low-load to high-load.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
