PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To flatten the magnetic flux density at the surface of the magneto-resistance element forming a magneto-sensitive part i.e. the surface of magneto-sensitive part and to make the temperature coefficient of the magneto-resistive element even. SOLUTION: The magnetic substance detector comprises the magneto-sensitive part 90 formed by the semiconductor magneto-sensitive element and the magnet 10 arranged on the rear side of the magneto-sensitive part wherein the magneto-sensitive part surface 91 and the magnet surface 10a are arranged parallel to each other and the surface 91 is arranged in the area of the magnet surface 10a. The distances B1 and B2 between the mutually opposite edges 91X, 91Y of the magneto-sensitive part surface 91 in the scanning direction of the detecting object of the magnetic substance and the edges 10X and 10Y of the magnet surface 10a are characteristically set to≥0.5mm respectively.
