PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoke shutoff device for an elevator hall door involving no necessity for enlarging the height of the door itself, and accordingly free of imposing a large burden on a drive device of the hall door, and capable of saving the space. SOLUTION: The smoke shutoff device of the elevator doorway is composed of a doorway frame consisting of an upper frame and a vertical frame installed at the doorway, the hall door installed on the doorway frame with a certain gap reserved in between, and a smoke shutting member having an L-section provided with an air-tight member installed on the upper frame and a vertical portion to make contact air-tightly with the air-tight member for shutting off the smoke, wherein the vertical portion of the shutting member is attached to the upper edge oversurface of the hall door in such a way as facing up in the upright attitude.
